Wood Connection: Fall Centerpiece Decor

Hey! It Jamie from Savvy Sisters. I can't believe summer is over and Autumn is here! It is so crazy how cold it is getting now too. I'm so excited for the leaves to change, for football, and for fun Fall activities to come! But I'm also excited to start decorating for Fall time! I made this Autumn Centerpiece for my table. It was easy and took about 2 hours or less for me to make!

Materials:
- wooden acorns
- paint (fall colors)
- ribbon
- paper
- brushes
- stain (provincial)
- sandpaper
- wood glue
- candles or pumpkins and ghourds.

First I sanded and stained the plank board. I used the provincial color that Wood Co sells. I wiped off the stain and then set aside to dry.

Next, I painted the leaves different Fall colors. I used forest green, goldenrod and medocino red. Once they dried, I sanded the edges and stained each one. For the flat acorns, I painted them different fall colors, let them dry and then cut out and glued cute paper on them. Then I tied ribbon around them! For the other acorns, I dipped them in the can of stain and then wiped them off. Those were easy!
After those were done, I painted my block forest green. Then I sanded the edges and stained it. I picked out some cute paper and glued that on. I picked one for each side! Then I stained the finial and tied a ribbon around it!

After everything was done drying, I put it all in the plank sign! Then added some candles and put it on this cute coffee table! I'll probably put some pumpkins and gourds in there when the grocery stores get them in.

Happy Fall Y'all!

Onion Days

The Onion Days Parade was actually very enjoyable this year because the weather was perfect! It felt good to be in the sun because it was slightly cold. Lincoln loved finding, mooching and eating all the candy from the kids. He didn't love the loud sound from the fire trucks though. Lucy was being a little timid this year and just standing and watching the floats instead of getting candy. I guess that's ok. She still had fun!
Afterwards, we went to Dave and Kathy's for lunch. A couple of Dan's cousins came over too and it was so nice to catch up to them! It was fun and relaxing to hang out and chat.

Lincoln @ 18 Months

Some things about Lincoln @ 18 Months:

He is such a happy boy! Just the other day, we were in the backyard and He sees me and run towards me and give me a big hug. Those are the best!
- Has been giving me a lot of opened mouthed kisses.
- He is a mamas boy. Whenever I leave he runs towards me crying and hugs my legs.
- He still has 2 teeth, but eats everything.
- He likes to head butt. The boy cousins think it's really cool!
- He has been saying uh oh lately!
- He is drinking almond milk to see if there's s change with his constipation- no luck yet.
- His little funny personality has been coming out. He pulls these faces and just holds them until I laugh. One day at family dinner he pulled it and held it until everyone was looking at him. Everyone cracked up and he did not break it once. Haha he is such a funny boy.
- He is starting to sign and say more. It's adorable.
- When he's all done with his food he lifts up and hands me his plate. He is like his big sister.
- He is really good at following directions now- like go get your shoes, get your bottle, eat your dinner.
- He fell off the stool in the bathroom and landed on his face. His binkie broke and cut his lip. It was bleeding pretty bad and was a deep cut. Dan came running home and we took him to the Er. By then it stopped bleeding and he was calming down. They had to numb him and the. They gave him 2 stitches. Poor kid was crying though it all. But after he did just fine. Then he zonked out for 3 hours and woke up his happy self.
- He says papa, bye
- He signs please
- He is saying a few more words! Waffle, fruit, snack
- He always falls and hits hit head. I swear it's like once a day poor kid. Today he fell back on the bleachers and hit his head.
- He weaned him off the bottle but we still live off of a binkie!
- He's been so good at obeying! I ask him to lay down so I can change his diaper and he does. He's so good! He also likes putting shoes away in the shoe basket.
- He loves his monkey blanket and will not go to sleep with out it. In fact he likes to take it everywhere.
- He is such a good eater! He eats more than Lucy. And he likes to eat with a fork or spoon and it pretty good at using them!
- He is finally getting his top two teeth in! Now he will have 4.
- He Loves to say daddy!
- He Waves and says bye to people. I tell him to go give them hugs and he runs right to them and then says bye. So adorable!

We love our Linc Man!

THS Football 2016

Game 9: THS @ Alta

Alta is good. They even beat Timpview this year so we knew we wouldn't have much of a chance to beat them. Well within the first 15 second they scored a touchdown. Ouch. By halftime it was 0-41. It was nice of my dad Ben Erika Remi and the kids to come hang out with me during the game. We watched the kids roll down the hill rather than the game 😬. By third quarter Lincoln was so done. On our way out though, we scored 2 touchdowns! Wahoo! But then I heard the final score was 20-70. They're so mean!

Game 8: THS vs Orem

This game was pretty competitive! We worked hard and stayed up with them. We were 7-14 for the most of the game and at the very end they scored another touch down. This game wasn't as bad as last years.

Game 7: THS @ Timpview
We all know that Timpview is super good, so we knew there was little chance we'd win. I had to shoot a wedding so I didn't make it until the 4th quarter. When I got there is was 0-42. Ouch. No mercy from them. They were jerks. I got there right in time for Timpanogos to score though. We lost 7-55.

Game 6: THS vs Corner Canyon
After the Mountain View game, we knew our next 4 games would be tough. These are all really good schools and have been playing well. This game was freezing! It was raining the whole time, but we had to go because Lucy was performing Cheer at half time. They beat us up the first half. They were so big. Also our QB hurt his wrist, so he was working through the pain the whole time. At half, we watched Lucy cheer. She just looked freezing and barely moved. haha it was pretty cute. We watched the next few drives of the game, but left after that. Lincoln was freezing and was crying a bunch. They ended up losing 0-34. It was a sad game.
Game 5: THS @ Mountain View
Mountain View was the only school we beat last year so we had to beat them again this year. In the first few minutes, they scored a touch down and I got so nervous. We have to beat these guys. Pretty soon, we came back and we stayed up. It was a good game! 45-7

Game 4: THS vs Skyridge
We didn't know what to expect from this new school in Lehi. Dan thought we'd have a good chance. Well....these guys were huge! They ran over us. Even at the end of the game, they did not slow down. We did get a few touch downs though, so that was good. They weren't very nice. Oh and to make things worse, it was our homecoming game. And our boosters always plan fireworks during half time, so everyone who wasn't at the game thought we won because of the fireworks. It was too bad. But my kids sure loved them! Chuck-A-Rama also sponsored that game so I was in charge of doing the Chuck of the Game. But the game was awful, It was a pretty bad loss. 21-53

Game 3: THS @ West

Losing last weeks game, Dan was feeling a lot of pressure to win this week. West hadn't won any games so far, so it was looking ok for us. They have a lot of big guys on their team but no structure or good coaching. My parents and I went to the game together. My sister took the kids (thank you Mindy!). It was great to really watch the game. We were doing so great the first half. We were up by 2 touch downs! Woo! It's looking good. The second half they started to come back. Then in the 4th quarter, we really started to get nervous. A LOT of bad calls were made. There was a lot of penalty's and by :30 second left in the game, West had the ball and was on the 8th yard line about to drive it in when we pushed them back and got the ball! PHEW! After that all we had to to was hold them and let the time run out. We won! 20-15! That game was too intense for me! How does Dan handle that every week?!!!

Game 2: THS @ North Sanpete

The kids and I drove the long way to Mount Pleasant to see daddy's game. We met Dan's parents, Julie and family, Tony and Emily and Kristy's family there! It was so fun to have everyone there. Lucy and Lincoln just played with the kids on the hill. It was great to watch the game. The T-wolves scored first! Then the game was suspended for lighting for 30 minutes. Soon after the lighting came the pouring rain. Julie and I rushed back to my car and hung out. After the 30 minutes, the rain and lighting let up! But then North Sanpete scored. It was back and forth for the first half and we were up by half time. During the second half, we lost it. Refs were unfair, bad calls were made and we lost momentum. The kids were so confident this week because of beating Payson so bad, so this was a wake up call. The final score was 28-36. It was too bad.

Game 1: THS vs Payson

Leading up to this game, Dan was super stressed. Granted he will be every game, but this one being the first one of the season is always extra stressful. They've worked so hard and so it would be nice to see some good come out of it. The Payson game came and on the 4th play, the quarterback scored a touchdown. WOOO! It's always a great sign when we score first. By the end of the half it was 36-0. WOW! Everyone was super pumped. It was so nice to be on the winning end! Dan got to give a lot of his players playing time and everyone did great. It was a complete shutout. By the end of the game it was 39-0 final. It was a great night and it is so nice to have a happy husband!
