Easter 2016

We had such a wonderful Easter remembering our Savior, His atonement and His resurrection. My mom this year wanted to teach her grandkids more about Jesus' life and what he did for us, so he taught them a little lesson. Lucy was so intrigued and I could tell it had a big impact on her. She kept asking why Jesus disappeared and she was so interested in why He died on a cross. It was sweet.

After the lesson, they had an Easter Egg hunt of course! To make it fair, they each collected eggs in the color they were assigned. Good idea Grandma! They had so fun!

We went to uncle Tony's Easter egg hunt that he helped plan at the payson veterans home. They stuffed 14,000 eggs! There were so many that I think the kids got tired of picking them up. Lucy filled up her basket and a grocery bag. Sugar overload!

The very next day we had the Tervort Easter Hunt. Grandpa came to visit too! He has been recovering from heart surgery, so we were surprised that he wanted to come! It was good to see him.

The hunt was insane. These kids are so spoiled haha. Lucy got 12 prize eggs with the help of Coach Dad. We shared a few with other cousins who didn't get as many. Even Lincoln collected a lot of candy in his basket. He loves to put items in containers. Cute boy!

After the kids hunt, it was time for the adults! We had the older kids hide the eggs and they hid them good. It was fun to find them. Dan and I got a few prize eggs. It was so fun!

The day of Easter, we went to church. I taught in Primary and it was a really good experience. I showed the kids a video of a sweet girl singing Gethsemane. It brought the spirit so strong.
After church, I made a nice ham and potato dinner for just our family. Then we went and took Easter pics! Dan loved this part the most ;)

Happy Easter! We love our Savior and all that He did for us. He Lives!

Lincolns birthday party

I had a little party for Lincoln the day after his birthday. It wasn't huge and only my family ended up being able to come over. (Grandma and grandpa, sorensons, moss and GG Moss).  We watched his one year old video and then opened gifts. Lucy was really acting out all night because Lincoln was getting more attention than her. She opened up Lincolns presents and I think loved them more than him. Everyone was so nice and gave him some awesome gifts! Dan and I gave him a tricycle, cars, and clothes. Lucy gave him a bubble machine and a car.
After the gift opening, we got linc ready for his smash cake. He seemed really unsure at first cuz all eyes were on him, but he dug in pretty good after that. He was on a sugar high and then soon after that a sugar low. I mean super low. He was screaming and crying. I think his little tummy hurt and he was real tired. We cleaned him up in the sink and then got him ready for bed. He said goodnight and fell asleep super quick.
We had a small after party and had fun with the msqrd app. It was pretty fun! Thanks everyone for coming!

Skiing with the brother

Skiing is so good for my soul. There's something about being high in the moutains and being in that fresh air that makes me so happy. And at Sundance, you have these AMAZING views at the top that make you so grateful to be on this earth. It had been a long time since Trev and I went skiing together. We had both had a little winter blues and this sure pulled us out. We had such a blast. It was fun to see Trev being so goofy and happy again. I love my bro. We had a fun time!

They're Home!

We are so happy Dave and Kathy are home! We have missed them so much while they were gone. It was so fun to hear their stories and all the good experiences they have had. I think they are sad to leave Nebraska, but very happy to be with family!
Only a few days later, Dave started having heart pains again and had to get an angiogram. One of his arteries was 50% blocked again. They decided that him undergoing a triple bypass surgery would be the best solution for this instead of having more stents. The next friday, he went in surgery. But instead of having 3 bypasses, he had to have 7. Wow. He is still in the hospital, but is recovering well.

Wood Connection: Holiday Interchangeable Frame Chalkboard

Happy early Easter! I can't believe it comes so soon this year. When I was trying to think of what to do for this project, I kept thinking I wanted something simple and not too bright so it would blend in with my other living room decor. I came up with this chalkboard plaque with a frame overlay. And guess what?! I made these frames INTERCHANGEABLE. I'm probably the queen of interchangeable things. I like to use decor all year long! So this is what I did:

Materials you need:
- rectangle plaque (11x15.5)
- 4 overlay frames (you can buy more or less if you want to)
- chalkboard paint
- paint for each frame (I used terra cotta, blue danube, white, and tompte red)
- paint brushes
- screws and screwdriver
- sandpaper
- easel

For the Easter Banner:
- paint (I used white and terra cotta)
- twine
- hot glue

First sand all the wood.
Next paint the plaque with the chalkboard paint. The directions are on the bottle. I painted 3 coats on the plaque letting each layer dry for an hour. Then you have to wait 24 hours before drawing on it.

After that I painted my 4 frames. The first one I painted blue. This one matches my living room decor, it also could be used for Easter or Spring. To add a different element to it, I white washed it. To do this you mix a little bit of blue and white paint together. Then you get a bristle brush, dip it in the paint mixture, and then you wipe off almost all the paint. With only a small amount of paint on the brush, swiftly paint strokes on the frame. You get the cool white washed effect. Repeat until it's the way you like it.

I painted the other frames red (for Valentines Day, Christmas, and 4th of July holidays), orange (Halloween and Thanksgiving), and white (General, Valentines, Winter, Summer, etc). I didn't white wash these ones, but I think it would look cool if you did!

Next, I worked on my Easter banner. I painted the bunnies white and the carrots orange. Then I sanded those after they dried. Then I wrapped twine around them and glued the twine on the back with hot glue. I plan on doing this for each holiday as they come. Wood Co always has these mini holiday overlays.

Before doing this next step, decided if you want to hang this on the wall or place it on a easel and if you want it horizontal or vertical.

If placing it on an easel: I had my husband screw in these screws on the back of each frame on the bottom. We found some screws that were sturdy enough to rest the plaque on top. Be careful that the screws don't come through the front! Then place the frame on the easel and the chalkboard behind it resting on the screws.

If hanging on the wall, I would find some shorter nails or screws first and then screw them into the top of each frame. Hang the plaque on the wall first, and then rest the overlay frame on the top.

Here is how they turned out! Have fun coming up with your own chalkboard designs. You'll get good at chalkboard art if you want to change it for every holiday or season!

Lincolns Birthday

It was such good weather on Lincoln's birthday! I decided not to go in to work and to spend the day with him and my Lucy. We went to the park with Sandee and Jake. Lincoln had a fun time going down the slide all by himself! Later I blew up balloons and put them in his crib for him and Lucy to play with. They had a blast. It was pretty good entertainment for an hour. Yes!
Later that night, Dan's niece Mckelle had her drill showcase. Lucy and I went to go support her and dad took Lincoln out for ice cream. He had a fun time and loved every bit of that ice cream!

Lincoln @ 1 year old

My baby boy is one! Time sure does fly. Lincoln is such a good little guy with the biggest smile. We love him so much.

Lincoln @ 1 Year Old:
- He is standing! He has taken maybe one step forward, but gets nervous and sits down.
-He is a really fast crawler and practically sprints towards an open door. Lucy has to be quick to shut it! He really likes the bathroom for some reason. I have caught him with his hands in the toilet a few times. Yuck!
- He's also really good at going up the stairs, but not down. He gives me a heart attack when he starts crawling towards a flight of stairs going down.
- He is a very happy kid. It is not hard to make him smile. He is so ticklish especially on his neck. He has the most contagious laugh.
- he still has no teeth! But he eats all normal food.
- He is a very good eater and will pretty much eat anything except cottage cheese or eggs. I don't think he likes the textures. He eats more than Lucy sometimes. And even though he's a big eater, he weighs 18 pounds. He's now in the 7th percentile.
- He is very impatient when it comes to his bottle or food. You have to have it quick or he will scream!
- He isn't saying much but loves to jabber. He says mama and dada and the occasional grandpa and ruff.
- He pretty much plays with anything. He still loves to suck on everything. Even my toes, haha. He likes Lucy's play food a lot.
- He and Lucy get a long really well. Lucy is usually very nice to him. The only time he doesn't like her is when she gives him super tight hugs and won't let go.
- Lincoln has pretty good stranger danger. Especially with men. He is pretty good about going with anyone in our families though.

We love our Linc man!
