We got Covid

The day after Lucy's birthday party, our little nephew found out he was positive for Covid. He was wearing a mask the whole time he was playing with Lincoln, but we were still concerned. A couple of days later Annabelle tested positive too. As a precaution, I kept the kids home for school. It wasn't until Friday, January 29th that I started to have symptoms. Just a runny nose and a teeny sore throat. But I tested and tested positive. We for sure thought Lincoln would get it first, but I was wrong. On Sunday, Lucy and Daniel tested positive. Luckily they were asymptomatic.

Funny enough, Lincoln and Jack never tested positive. Dan kept getting tests from his school so we tested Lincoln every 2 days. We kind of hoped he would get it so he wouldn't have to quarantine for so long. But he never got it, so he skipped school for about 4 weeks. It was pretty ridiculous and I felt so bad for him.

I only had 1 bad day of an achy body, but the rest of the time it wasn't bad at all. The worst part was since I'm pregnant, I had to inject myself with blood thinner every day for 2 weeks. It was to prevent the placenta from getting blood clots. I stuck myself the first day, got wousy and threw up. So Dan injected me for the rest of the time. It wasn't very fun.

Other than those things, quarantine wasn't too bad. Our kind friends and family brought us dinner and brought by activities for the kids to do. Dan got 2 projects done in the house. He painted the baby's and Lucy's rooms and he did some improvements to our bathroom. It was great!

Lucy's Spa Party

I was wanting to plan a big party this year for Lucy's 8th, but the pandemic stopped us. We invited her cousins, Kambree and Annabelle and her friend Amelia. She requested a spa party. We ate lunch, opened gifts and then I showed them the spa in the basement. We did a foot soak, pedicures, face masks, and manicures. Kristy came over and gave them all gel nails. They loved it! It was a fun party and it was nice to keep it small.

Ice Castles

It was Jack's first time to the Ice Castles. They never cease to amaze me. They are so beautiful. This time we went during the day and it was snowing when we went. The kids had a blast on the slides and went down them over and over again. We had a great time!

Lucy's 8th birthday

Happy 8th birthday to my Lucy! How is she this old already? I love that she is my oldest. She is such a good lil mommy. The other day she asked me how old she has to be when she can babysit her brothers. She isn’t quite there yet but she and I are both very excited when that day comes. I love her!

For her birthday all she wanted to do was make a cake from scratch and decorate it. We borrowed some supplies from Brittany and went to work! This was my first time making a 3 layer cake so it was a learning experience for both of us. Lucy got to decorate it- she chose to do a yellow drizzle on top and decorate it with stars. She did a great job! And it tasted so yummy.
For dinner she chose to go to Olive Garden. We went with just our family. Then came home and opened gifts. It was a very low key birthday, but she had a wonderful day!

Midway Getaway

Dan and I have been in "planning mode" and planning trips like crazy for this year. I think we both feel a little cooped up this past month, so we planned a little getaway in Midway over Martin Luther King day. We stayed at the Zermatt. It was nice! We went out and ate out at super yummy places- Lola's Kitchen, La Galleria, Betty's Cafe, Smokehaus. We went ice skating, got a couple's massage, visited Jason, went shopping, went and got Dan's covid vaccine, and relaxed. It was a wonderful weekend!
Our kiddos had a fun weekend at Grandma and Grandpa Moss'!

Snowshoeing Date

Dan and I wanted to do something outdoors and adventurous, so we tried snowshoeing! We borrowed some snow shoes from his school and went up to Stewart Falls to try them out. The snow wasn't deep at all so we realized as we passed a few other people, that snowshoes weren't really necessary, but we used them anyways! It was such a beautiful sunny day so we soon shed lots of our outer layers. The falls were gorgeous. They were frozen and looked beautiful! Dan was saying how since he's lost a lot of weight that he has more energy and the hike was a lot easier for him. He wants to do more adventurous dates now!

New Years at the Cabin

We decided we needed to go sledding at the cabin on New Years, so that is exactly what we did! My parents, Mindy's fam, Erika's fam and Ali's fam came along. The snow wasn't too deep but deep enough for the snowmobile. Dan operated that the whole time and took us up the mountain. Jack loved riding on it with him. We all had a blast going sledding. Lincoln got spooked by the snowmobile cuz of how wet you got on the way up, so he stuck to the small hill with Graham. But there was no stopped Lucy. She went over and over again. Jack and I went too. Then after all the kids went inside, Ali, Erika and I stayed and did some girls sledding. We never could make it down the hill without crashing first. It was a good time! After we made dinner, played games and hung out. It was a good day!
