Deer Creek Reservoir & Ward Party

Sandee and Trev invited us to go hang out at Deer Creek Reservoir. It's kind of like our last sha-bang before Dan starts school. Mindy and Remi came too! We had such a fun time floating on the tubes on the lake. We also tried paddle boarding! It is a lot easier in a lake than in the ocean! Lucy sat on the front of the board while I paddled around. It was good bonding time for us. Lincoln liked being on shore where he could walk around and play with rocks and sand rather than being confined in a tube. He's so mobile! It was a fun time!

After, we rushed to a ward party at the park. Kelli and I were in charge of doing a pinata for the kids. It was a hit! I love being primary president and knowing all these cute kids. Lucy and Lincoln had fun going down the blow up slide and playing some games. Lincoln kept sneaking suckers when the adults weren't looking. He's such a little thief!

Keith Urban Concert

Dan and I haven't been to a concert for a long time! We always feel a little old and lame for them. But I forgot how much I love them! It was so nice to chill and listen to Keith Urban. It was also fun to dance to his songs too! He puts on a good show. He had a cute 15 year old girl come on stage and make her day. Then he gave a guitar away to someone else. He is a great guy! Dan was being so funny and singing to the songs. We had a game going (this is awful) of mimicking the people dancing by us.

Zipline and monster trucks

It was a fun filled day! As a little mini date, Dan and I went on the new zipline at Deer Creek Reservoir. It was just us 2 on the tour, so we had a lot of fun hanging out with the guides. They were fun and Dan was being a complete goofball. I love seeing that side to him during stressful football season. This zipline was a lot more scary than the one we did in Hawaii. We were clipped in the whole time which was good, but we had to climb tall towers and step up to very small platforms. The stations were really scary because it was just a pole in the ground with steel stairs wrapped around it. You could feel yourself swaying in the wind. This zipline was also one where you had to break and stop yourself, which was fine, but a little nerve racking sometimes. Nonetheless, we had a blast! It was beautiful views and great company!

That night we went to the Monster Truck races in Bluffdale. My dad was excited it was so close to his new house, so he rode the UTV over. It was pretty fun to watch them! Lincoln got a little nervous. He was being very hard that evening too because he was tired and a little sick, so we left early.

Lindon parade

We made a quick appearance at the Lindon parade before I had to go to a couple of baptisms. We always look forward to the football boys coming by because that's when we get lots of candy. It was no different! They all yelled Lucy and threw candy to her. It was fun!

Wood Co: Bathroom Ocean Decor

Hey! I hope that everyone's summer has gone well! Today I wanted to share this decor idea that I had for my kid's bathroom. Before this, I just had their towel rack hanging up and thought it would be fun to add something else. Wood Co has recently come out with these super cute shadow boxes and overlays. They have a mermaid overlay and a seahorse one, so I thought it would be cute to do an ocean theme in the kids bathroom. I came up with the word Splash, but you can use any word you want – bath, flush, sparkle, clean, brush. Here's what you do!

Materials you need:
- Small letters to go in plank
- Scrapbook paper
- Paint- White, Quaker Grey, North Sea, Metallic Silver
- Glitter
- Wood Glue
- Sandpaper
- Stain
- Paint brushes
- Matte spray

Seahorse Plank: First I traced the seahorse on scrapbook paper. Then I painted the edges of the seahorse white. While that dried, I cut out the paper and then glued it onto the seahorse. Then I sanded the edges. Next I painted the plank box quaker grey. After a couple coats of that, I applied stain onto it and quickly wiped it off afterward so it wouldn't get too dark. I sprayed the seahorse with a matte coat spray. Then I glued the seahorse to the plank. Seahorse, Done! If you need more detailed instructions with how to glue paper onto wood, check out the tutorial here. And here's a stain tutorial.

Next up, the mermaid plank. First I sanded then painted the mermaid metallic silver. That needs 2-3 coats. While that dried, I sanded then painted the plank box white. This also needs a few coats. After the metallic mermaid dried, I taped off the top half of her body, so that she'd just have a glitter tail. I painted the tail again and then applied the silver glitter, Make sure to check out this tutorial for glitter– it is so helpful! After the glitter, I sprayed the mermaid with the matte spray to keep the glitter in tact. Then I glued the mermaid to the plank. Mermaid done!

Lastly, the Splash letters. I sanded then painted the letters white. Again, 2 coats. Once these dried I sanded the edges. Then I painted the plank North Sea blue (2 coats). Once everything was dried, I glued the letters on.

Then I had my husband hang everything up! There you have it!
